No sooner of giving all time blockbuster "Dangal"
inspired by real life of Mahabir Singh Phogat featured in 'Satyamev
Jayate', Aamir Khan strikes back with his another super hit 'Secret
Superstar.' Writer and Director Advait Chandan has told that he is
inspired by few episodes of Satymev Jayate while writing the script of
Secret Superstar. Satyamev Jayate is turning out to be story factory for
Aamir Khan's movies.
Secret
Superstar is all about an ordinary family. It mainly focuses on
relationship between a mother and daughter. The story line and
presentation is very simple and orthodox. There is nothing new in
storytelling. The thing that amazes the audience is the acting by main
characters. While watching the movie every audience thinks that they are
within the film. They think that they have seen most of the incidents that happens in the
movie in the real life too. That is the beauty of Secret Superstar.
With her awesome acting Insiya Mallik (played by Zaira Wasim) completely
steals the show with her mother Nazma Mallik (played by Meher Vij).
After Dangal and Secret Superstar, Zaira is successful in establishing
herself in Bollywood as a promising actor. Meher's acting as a
frightened mother who is afraid of her husband but loves her children
unconditionally is mind-blowing. The lyricist must have done lots of
homework for the lyrics because it should be meaningful as well as look
like written by 15 years old girl at the same time.
Beside
the predictable story there are some other flaws in the movie. In one
scene, it is said that Shakti Kumar (played by Aamir Khan) was once most
awarded music director but in another scene, he says that he was
only nominated but never been awarded. The realistic story gradually
turns into melodramatic in the second half. The climax of the movie is
completely filmy, which can be disappointing.
If you
are Aamir Khan fan or if you enjoy watching movies about ordinary people
with ordinary story then you must watch Secret Superstar. If not, you
won't enjoy the movie.
