Spectacle worth watching

After the box-office failure of movies like 'Tube light' starring Salman Khan, 'Jagga Jasoos' starring Ranbir Kapoor, 'Jab Harry Met Sejal' starring Shah Rukh Khan; Bollywood pundit started to think that Bollywood doesn't run only on the Star Power now. The viewer wants not only the star but the story too.

In this critical situation of the Bollywood, Akshay Kumar has appeared with his 'Toilet, Ek Prem Katha' as a ray of hope. The relatively satisfactory opening of the movie made all the stakeholders of the Bollywood happy. The movie advocating the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' of the Prime Minister Modi has received support from the government as well as the public.

The movie's main plot is completely based on the real life incident of Priyanka Bharti. It basically deals with small town cycle trader Keshav (played by Akshay Kumar) and his wife Jaya (played by Bhumi Pednekar) and their struggle to build a toilet in their house.

The movie opens with Keshav marrying a buffalo in order to remove bad omens from his fate. His father strictly tells him that he can marry a girl only if she has two thumbs in her right hand. During some business deal Keshav meets Jaya and fall for her instantly. After some humorous romance the couple is ready to get marriage. Keshav tricks his father for two thumbs in right hand and convince him for the marriage.

The real tension starts when Jaya finds that there is no toilet in Keshav's house. She refuses to go to open fields like other women. Keshav manages some temporary solution for the toilet but nothing lasted longer. So, Jaya left his house and goes to her parents'. The movie now revolves around Keshav and his effort to build toilet in order to bring his wife back.

The movie has all necessary ingredients of typical Bollywood movie like comedy, drama, romance, double meaning humor and many more. The first half of the movie is shows the introduction of the characters, struggle of the protagonist to impress a girl and marry her, some unnecessary humorous scenes and development of the main plot. The second half of the movie is relatively quite serious one. It shows the superstitious thinking of villagers, corruption of the government officials, family drama. Suddenly the humorous characters become unrealistically serious one in this part.

After giving back to back hits in the box office, the National Award winning actor Khildai Kumar has proved that he is the player of the box office too.
