But, when it comes about any sports. Its like everything
stops for a while, people forget every problems and every tensions to
get involved in the event. When there is football world cup, everything
stops for a while and all eyes are set to the match. It affects the
whole world not only the participants.
Once, Bill Gates told that the productivity of his company
is decreased by 5% when Sachin Tendulkar is batting in the field. It
means that people forgets everything in order to get engaged in sports.
Every country in this world seems to be the united when we
see it from the macro level. But, at micro level the country is divided
by political ideology, language, religion, social status and many more.
The unity of the citizens is seen when the country is representing in
any international sporting event. People are united in order to support
their country. Nobody wants to see their country loosing.
Generally, the feeling of patriotism is triggered in the
people either by sports or by war. In Nepal, people seems to argue with
each other in the name of religion, political party, race and others.
But when it come about any tournament of football or cricket then we see
people united and cheering up for the country. A strange feeling of
patriotism runs through the veins of people at that time.
In Ivory Coast, football star Didier Drogba is considered
as the major reason for stopping the civil war. Both government's army
and revolutionary army stopped their war in order to see the Drogba
playing for the country in the Africa Cup.
Hence, major international sporting event can be considered
as the reason to ease the international tensions and release the
patriotic emotion.
